Tommy's Holy Trinity

Created by the Clark family 11 years ago
It sounds funny to start talking about Tommy and mention food, but in an Italian family, it seems to go together like Sunday sauce and meatballs or pasta and peas. There came a time (more than a few years back) when I was still a single girl and I was tired of frozen food, surprise out of a box, and take out in a bag. I wanted to learn the magic of making food from scratch. And I wanted to make a pot of chicken noodle soup. It was a Saturday, I needed something to do to keep me out of trouble(and God knows I could find trouble easy enough), and so I called Tommy in Indianapolis. When I called and explained what I wanted to do Tommy was more than happy to tell me about the Holy Trinity…sorry Judy, not THAT Holy Trinity…this one includes carrots, onion, and celery. He went on to explain to me how to put the Holy Trinity together with salt, pepper, chicken stock, noodles and LOVE. Because when you’re feeding yourself or the whole family, really what you’re doing is putting love on a plate and making you or your people happy. He’s not the only person who has taught me that, but he was the first. — Kerry Ann
